The drug crisis has been going on for years now. It is in every town, every province, every country on Earth. The norm in my hometown is sirens several times a day and night. This constant noise, even in a small town, can really affect a person's mental health. Sadly, the situation has worsened in recent months and weeks.
If you grew up here, and the drugs we are seeing right now often don't respond to naloxone, Derby stated, then you will know this was not the norm. Dan Derby quoted in saying ''Our community needs help. We are in the midst of a crisis. Since the start of 2026, Kootenay Boundary Regional Fire Rescue has been busier than ever in its history. This time last year, from January 1st to now, 100 calls for service came in. This year, 200 calls for service have come in, and about 100 are related to the drug crisis in our community.
Recently, there has been one confirmed death at the local La Nina Shelter. A man was in a room and came out on fire. After failed attempts by the shelter staff to put the fire out, emergency services arrived and took the man to the hospital, where he later died with over 90-degree burns on his body. The Neighbourhood News knows the young man's name, but is not releasing it to respect the family at this time.
In the last 24 hours, a suspicious fire around 1 am in the back of the Community Inclusion Centre, run by CDS, has suffered approx. $40k damage to their kitchen and smoke damage throughout the building. A suspect has been spotted on building cameras. Several unconfirmed reports have come of 19 overdoses and several deaths in the Trail area has occured since Income assistance checks came out last Wednesday.

One of the biggest stories in the last week is the mass shooting at Tumblerridge High School. This story is so tragic that it has made worldwide headlines. Ten students have lost their lives, and some twenty-five others are injured. It took this tragic situation to bring everyone together. The leaders from the federal government joined Premier Eby in Tumberlier Ridge yesterday.
How does a city move forward after these deadly events that transpired? How do the victim's families move forward? We also have to thank the many heroes in this incident. Thank you all! Counselling is being offered on-site near the school. The shooter took his life and is included in those death counts. The shooter's mother and brother were also killed that day.
The United States goes to war with Iran with mixed reasons for doing so.

Donald Trump wanted to be called the peace-making President. In fact, he campaigned for this second term saying, "I am going to stop wars, not start them" Well, last week the President decided to go to war with Iran after ongoing talks with Iran were going nowhere. He stated that Iranian leaders are insane and nuts.
It is true Iran is a danger and has been for a long time. They have indeed harmed and killed many Americans for years. Trump said the reason was that he just had a thought in his head, we'd better attack. He contradicted his Secretary of state Rarco Rubio's reason was that they learned Iran was going to attack Israel and the United States base, so we had no choice.
As of the time this story went to press, over 1000 Iranians, including young kids, 6 Americans have died, and the cost to Americans is 150 billion and climbing so far. Trump does not know how long this war will continue and will not stop until Iran surrenders fully. Iran rejected the United States surrender request in order to stop the war. This war could continue for some time, with no clear solution in sight. The United States also stated they had to attack to protect America from attacks and nuclear weapon attacks in the future.

"The Snides"
As a hometown citizen myself, I enjoy featuring other citizens who stand out in our community. Today, we are featuring a long-time Home of Champions citizen, Barry Schneider. Born and raised in Trail, Barry, better known as "The Snides" on the streets and around town. If you want to find Barry, look no further than the famous "Cominco Arena" at a BCHL game with the world-famous Trail Smoke Eaters. It is safe to say he is a huge Trail Smoke Eaters fan, maybe the biggest to be honest. Barry buys season tickets yearly, and recently he got a full-colour-tattooed Trail Smoke Eaters logo on the back of his head.
If you can't find him at the Cominco Arena then look towards the Columbia River. Barry is also a pro fisher, with years and years of experience fishing. Being a pro fisher is one thing but being a profisher on the mighty Columbia Riveris no easy task. His fishing boat can be seening going up anbd down the the river regularly. If you are lucky enough to know Barry he will give you tips on what bait works best on the Columbia.
Barry's family grew up in upper Sunningdale; his father owned Lordco Auto Parts in Trail. Barry loves pets and has a great dog. This is a great story about people that standout in our community and in this case, Barry is a hometown citizen and loves Trail BC. He is a local champion in The Home of Champions!

This movie could change the world, according to Variety. This is the first documentary to reveal the truth about UFOs, now known as UAPs. 34 highly credible government officials, including Marco Rubio, the second most powerful politician in the United States currently.
This documentary is one of a kind, like nothing we have seen before. One thing is very clear: this documentary is very serious, featuring 34 highly credible government and military leaders.
This documentary is the only one in UFO history in the last eighty years. There have never been thirty-four high-level credible witnesses; some testified under oath. Also, most of these witnesses are firsthand witnesses.
Some stating I have seen UFO crafts and non-human bodies with my own eyes. One stated, “we have been discovered by another intelligence in the universe.
Marco Rubio was interviewed from his government building, stating that some of these UAPs are not ours or any other countries, and they are entering restricted airspace over military bases and nuclear sites, and the United States government cannot stop it, making these occurrences a national security threat. These occurrences are not a historic event; they are an ongoing event.
This documentary stopped short from providing physical evidence, but how can thirty-four witnesses be lying? Some of the witnesses stated things that were still classified, which is breaking serious laws.
In this documentary, it seems to be clear that the US government and other countries, China and Russia, have cracked the code of faster-than-light travel from eighty years of re-engineering UAP technology.
This implies that because humanity has built it from using UAP technology, intelligent life is watching us to see if humans will be a threat to them. Now that we have this technology soon, we will be doing what they are doing, travelling around the universe, and they will have to deal with us sooner then later.
Another important statement that was made on the film was that UAPs are real and they are here. They have been here for a long time. They are hiding in plain sight, in Earth’s oceans or other secret places on Earth and they cannot be found.
President Trump supported this progress by signing executive orders allowing Congress hearings that started in 2023 for legal whistleblowers to come out and share their story.
In the film and the film’s director Dan Farah said it’s just a matter of time before a US President steps up to the podium and tells Americans and the world, we are in fact not alone in the Universe. This could be President Trump, and he is perfect for this, and he will go down in history as the President who tells Americans the truth above the biggest cover-up in human history. As this story went to press, rumours in the UFO community are saying they have been hearing that the Trump Administration is preparing for when Trump will announce this to the world.
The film shows a clear way anti-gravity propulsion engines work. Showing that the craft itself does not move. Space in front and back of the craft is bent, which causes time to be less to get to a location that would normally take years to get to. The craft and the people in it do not move, allowing humans to live and not be torn apart from the G forces that would kill a human body.
We are considered a pre-warp world, but now it looks like we are no longer primitive.
and could be a threat to other intelligent non-human life in the universe. This could explain why all this evidence is coming out now.
Some areas of the film seem dark or scary, leaving us to think, are UAPs friendly or hostile? The unknown can leave anyone scared. How far have world governments gotten with faster-than-light travel? Have humans flown these warp engines into outer space, or just in our atmosphere, or in our oceans?
Here’s a thought, we are close to testing them leaving the atmosphere. At the end of the film leaves more questions. The truth is now out we are not alone in the universe. The government seems to be okay telling the world this, but there is something bigger beyond this, something so intense it could affect all of us. One day, Jay Stratton said maybe we will know what it is. We know humans are not going to stop until we find out all the answers to one of the most important issues to humanity.

On June 4, 1947, as an electrical storm was happening, something happened, something came down, something crashed. It was dark, and within 24 hours, the world was told a UFO crashed in a farmer's field in Roswell, New Mexico. Metal fragments were scattered across several acres of a farm owned by Mr Brazel. There was talk of a second crash location, and the military was blocking off all crash site locations.
Then, after all that, the military retracted their UFO crash statement and stated it was a weather balloon. It was a weather balloon from the military. No one believed the story from day one. In the 1990's, a movie came out called ''Roswell' on VHS. It told the whole story by eyewitnesses. Back then, a scientist stated that this material is a metal that is not from Earth. It is like foil, you crunch it up, then it goes back to normal form. Then he said nothing we have here on Earth could make this kind of material. The day after Roswell is a best-selling book about the incident aswell. The Neighbourhood News published a story years ago in our Did you know...Real Life Science sections that matched up this Rosewell Incident metal material with NASA's 2008 smart healing metal invention. It compared the two metals and they matched up leaving the possibity that NASA tested the Roswell Metal from 1947 and re-engeering it until it was duplicated in 2008. It all made sense.
Since then, this first UFO/UAP crash story has never died, and the truth has found its way out. July 8, 2026, is the 79th Anniversary of the Roswell Incident. President Trump has chosen this Anniversary to announce the most important announcement in human history. Yes, behind the scenes of the White House, the President has written his speech, and set a day to announce to the world, Roswell crash was in fact real. The United States will come clean about the 80-plus-year cover-up of non-human intelligence, as we are not alone in the universe.
The Neighbourhood News is publishing this story based on ongoing leaks from the White House. Mark Christopher Lee, a British filmmaker, UK writer, director and ufologist agency has confirmed these leaks. Last November, the Age of Disclosure documentary was released, featuring 34 current and past high-level government, military, and other individuals with clearance to possess this knowledge, confirming that we are not alone. The movie's director said he would not be surprised if a future President or the current one steps up to the podium to tell the world the truth.
Then in December 2025, word got out that the White House was halfway through declassifying the 80-plus years of classified documents on ufo's, including the Roswell Incident. The London Times published a story in early January 2026, warning all banks to be prepared for the United States announcing the truth that UAPs are, in fact, real. This will cause the markets to crash, as people will fear an alien invasion and withdraw their investments from the banks. That same story confirmed that the White House is halfway done declassifying all the UFO files dating back to 1947.
To come clean and tell Americans that the government covered up for almost the last century, they first have to declassify all the classified documents. Privately, the White House has slated the 79th Anniversary of the Roswell Incident to reveal the truth. Trump picked that day because of the importance of the first UFO incident on American Soil.
Steven Selberg has also used this huge announcement to produce and direct his new movie called "Disclosure Day" coming out in June 2026. All our sources point to this happening as we stated. We will see if it happens like it's susposed too. This announcement will be the biggest in human history, bigger than anything even Sept. 11th. Humanity just might have something to look forward to in the future. A universe is a huge place waiting to be discovered. The sky is not the limit, and non-human intelligences could help humanity in so many ways if we can respect them and work together.
In the Age of Discousure it states humanity is close to being able to use advanced non-human intelligence tech, and we are bound to run into them out there or right here on Earth. The time has come for the truth, and humanity will not stop until we get the truth.

The trial of the Trail firefighters begins with 2 charges stayed.

Last week, the trial of the three Trail firefighters who were charged last year started. Some of the events of that day came out on the stand.
First, let’s rewind to three days before the trial. The crown announced after reviewing evidence that they deemed there was not enough evidence to meet the threshold of charges and stayed the charges of two of the Trail Firefighters that work for the RDKB.
Parsons and Morris, charges were stayed, but when charges are stayed, they can recharge that person up to one year from the date of the stayed charges. It is likely chance the charges will not be charged again.
The first person to take the stand was the victim, Darrell Wong. He described the events leading up to the day of the incident. He stated he no longer lives in the area due to not feeling safe here.
He also stated he was warned to stay away from Ferraby’s nieces and mother in the weeks before, while living in his car near the front of the library in Trail. That is when he said, “Greg Ferraby came up to him and he knew who he was from being on emergency callouts for the fire department, Wong denied this claim; he said Ferraby also threatened them. All of this happened before he was attacked by the three men and left with several serious injuries.
A retired RCMP officer was up next. Sherri Karn went to a restaurant after Ferraby told her he had been there on the night of the incident for a birthday party. She said she met resistance seeking assault-related video at every turn.
The trial will continue with closing arguments at Rossland Law Courts. According to the BC online courts site November 19, 2025, an appearance to fix a date is next. The Neighbourhood News will continue to report outside of the courthouse in Rossland.

When COVID-19 was at its worst in 2021/2022, everyone was inside, protecting themselves from a virus that spread in the airOur international borders were closed for the first time in history, and everything else was closed.
In Trail BC, the streets were empty. Trail includes the historic Gulch, and no one was around. The Gulch was a ghost town like many cities worldwide were at that time.
The fear was genuine at that time for most people. Before this time, humans watched movies with viruses that could spread in the air.
During this time, an experienced photographer, and writer made the
trip towards the historic Gulch in Trail, BC. The Gulch includes Trail Creek, now Trail's first street created by Trail’s first Mayor, Colonel Topping. The Gulch and Rossland Avenue have become famous for their history.
This history includes The Trail Creek Mining District of 1896. This district was the largest gold mine claim on Earth in 1898!
Later, Italian Settlers worked and lived on this famous area and street. I am lucky enough to own one of the six first original buildings in the Gulch.

Impaired school bus driver arrested with children aboard: RCMP

EDMONTON -- A school bus driver from Spruce Grove has been arrested after school staff noticed she was drunk behind the wheel as students were getting on board, RCMP said.
Mounties responded to Graminia School, a K-9 in Spruce Grove, on Monday at 3:11 p.m. after staff noticed one bus driver was impaired.
Charges are pending against the 46-year-old female driver, who was suspected of being drunk, RCMP told CTV News Edmonton.
Golden Arrow told CTV News the driver, who had been hired in September, has been fired.
It's unclear how many students were on board and how old they are, but the Parkland School Division said no one was injured.
"A situation where an individual would put students and others in potential danger is intolerable," superintendent Shauna Boyce said.
Students had to wait for a replacement driver and were late getting home, Boyce added.
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call Parkland RCMP at 825-220-7267 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Interaction with a stranger
Busy time of the year and while I was setup at one local craft faire I encountered a very special person.
I make a point of smiling at the people as they come by my table. Smiling is a form of communication saying more than what we even realize.
A young woman came back to my table after she passed by. Her eyes were full of emotion. She went on to tell me she had just passed my table and I smiled at her. She added I made her feel so special and welcome.
As she walked away she told me never to stop smiling.
A lesson in the big book of life.

The word Halloween or Hallowe'en dates to about 1745 and is of Christian origin. The word "Hallowe'en" means "Saints' evening". It comes from a Scottish term for All Hallows' Eve (the evening before All Hallows' Day).
Children of all ages dress up in costumes and travel from house to house to receive treats in response to their call of “trick or treat!" The phrase is a subtle suggestion that if a treat (like candy) is given, then the child will not perform a “trick" (mischief) on the owner of the house.

NO BAKE PEANUT BUTTER RICE KRISTIE BARS
30 (approximately) Oreo cookies
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 1/3 cups good quality milk chocolate
1 1/3 cups good quality dark chocolate
1/2 cup smooth peanut butter
3 cups Rice Krispies
Lightly grease and line an 8" square pan with parchment paper, ensuring two sides overhang. Add Oreo cookies to food processor (or crush fine). Pour over butter and mix well. Place the crumbs into your prepared pan and press down gently to form one even layer. Pop into fridge.
Add both chocolates into a heat-proof bowl and melt in the microwave, stirrug every 20 seconds. Add peanut butter and stir until smooth. (Pop back in the microwave until smooth if it is still lumpy)
Add rice krisipies to a large bowl. Pour over the melted chocolate mixture. Stir quickly to completely cover cereal in chocolate. Pour over Oreo crust and smooth the top with a small spatula or back of dessert spoon.
Place in the fridge for 1 hour or until set. Cut into squares and store slices in the fridge.
